About 4 miles from Long Mountain Lodge, this is a terrific easy 20 minute hike to a beautiful waterfall.

From the Lodge, follow the driveway to Bull Creek Rd and turn right at the stop sign onto Camp Wahsega Rd.

Go 3.6 miles to a stop sign at the gate to the US Army Camp Frank D Merrill.

Turn left and the pavement will turn to a gravel road in about 100 yards.

Go another 200 yards and turn right onto SSG Charles B Cooper Rd (you will be coming along side the army base and the gym will be on your right.

Stay on this gravel road (currently there is considerable construction here, but just go straight).

You will then need to ford the Etowah River with your vehicle (gravel bottom and not deep unless a recent rain storm).

Park on the left about 40 yards past the river.  Hike up the service road through or around a gate (to keep vehicles off) a few hundred yards till you come to a trail on your left.

After a while the trail splits, but you can go either way as it comes back together. When they do take the next trail to the right. You will cross a small stream. The waterfall, which is on the West Fork of Montgomery Creek, is ahead on your left.

Great spot for a picnic! Guests have been known to swim in the cool water below the falls.
